Simple Present Tense (Geniş Zaman)
Simple Present Tense (Geniş Zaman), düzenli ve düzensiz fiillerle kullanılan İngilizce zamanlardan biridir. Bu zaman, genel olarak şu durumları ifade etmek için kullanılır:
- Rutin ve Alışkanlıklar:
- I wake up at 7 AM every day. (Her gün saat 7’de uyanırım.)
- She goes to the gym three times a week. (Haftada üç kez spor salonuna gider.)
- Genel Gerçekler ve Doğrular:
- The sun rises in the east. (Güneş doğuda doğar.)
- Water boils at 100 degrees Celsius. (Su, 100 derecede kaynar.)
- Programlar ve Planlar:
- The train leaves at 3 PM. (Tren saat 3’te hareket eder.)
- The conference starts tomorrow. (Konferans yarın başlıyor.)
Olumlu Cümle Yapısı:
- I/We/You/They + V1 (Base Form of the Verb)
- I play tennis every weekend.
- We eat dinner at 7 PM.
- He/She/It + V1 + -s/-es
- He goes to the gym.
- She studies French.
Olumsuz Cümle Yapısı:
- I/We/You/They + do not (don’t) + V1
- I don’t like coffee.
- We don’t watch TV in the morning.
- He/She/It + does not (doesn’t) + V1
- He doesn’t play the piano.
- She doesn’t work on weekends.
Soru Cümle Yapısı:
- Do + I/We/You/They + V1?
- Do you like pizza?
- Do we have a meeting today?
- Does + He/She/It + V1?
- Does he speak Spanish?
- Does she live in London?
Zamirlerle Kullanım:
- I/We/You/They: I play guitar. (Ben gitar çalarım.)
- He/She/It: He plays guitar. (O gitar çalar.)
Düzensiz Fiiller:
- I/We/You/They + V1 (base form)
- I have breakfast at 8 AM.
- They visit their grandparents every month.
- He/She/It + V1 + -s/-es
- She has a dog.
- It snows in winter.
Sıklık Zarfları:
Geniş zaman cümleleri, sıklık zarflarıyla kullanıldığında belirli bir sıklığı ifade edebilir:
- I always drink tea in the morning.
- She rarely goes to bed before midnight.
- We usually go to the beach in the summer.
Geniş zaman, İngilizce’de temel bir zaman formudur ve birçok farklı durumu ifade edebilir.
- Bu zaman kalıbını genelde yaptığımız işleri, her zaman tekrarlanan eylemleri ve alışkanlıklarımızı anlatırken kullanırız. Bu kalıbı Türkçeye çevirirken genellikle fiile “-r, -ar, -er, -ir, -ır, -ur, -ür” ekleri getiririz. (yapar, gider, gelir, oynar, vb.)

Examples:
I have breakfast. (Ben kahvaltı yaparım.)
He gets up early. (O erken uyanır.)
She plays tennis. (O tenis oynar.)
I don’t have breakfast. (Ben kahvaltı yapmam.)
He doesn’t get up early. (O erken uyanmaz.)
She doesn’t play tennis. (O tenis oynamaz.)
Note: When forming a positive sentence with the subjects “He, She, It,” one of the suffixes “-s, -es, -ies” is added to the verb.
play –> plays
go –> goes
fly –> flies
Note: In negative sentences:
- After the subjects “I, You, We, They,” “do not/don’t” is used.
- After the subjects “He, She, It,” “does not/doesn’t” is used.
Yes / No Questions:
– Do you go to the gym? – Does he go jogging?
– Yes, I do. (+) – Yes, he does. (+)
– Do you ride a bike? – Does she swim?
– No, I don’t. (-) – No, she doesn’t. (-)
WH- Questions:
What? – Ne?
Who? – Kim?
Whose? – Kimin?
Where? – Nerede?/Nereye?
When? – Ne zaman?
Which? – Hangi?/Hangisi?
What time? – Saat kaçta?
Why? – Neden?
How? – Nasıl?
How many? – Kaç tane?
How much? – Ne kadar?
How often? – Ne sıklıkta?
Examples:
What do you do at the weekends? I meet with my friends.
Where do you play soccer? I play soccer in the park.
When does he swim? He swims in the mornings.
FREQUENCY OF ACTIONS:
When asking how often an action is done, the question sentence “How often ……. ?” is used.
Example:
How often do you go running? (Ne sıklıkta koşuya gidersin?)
How often do you eat junk food? (Ne sıklıkta abur cubur yersin?)
How often do you train? (Ne sıklıkta antrenman yaparsın?)
Frequency Adverbs:
%100 Always – Her zaman
%90 Usually – Genellikle
%75 Often – Sık sık
%50 Sometimes – Bazen
%10 Seldom/Rarely – Nadiren
%0 Never – Hiç, hiçbir zaman, asla
These adverbs are used to express how often an action is done and are placed between the subject and the verb in the sentence.
Examples:
I always train hard.
She often goes to the sports center.
We never play computer games.
