“PREFER”

 

“Prefer” means “to choose” in the dictionary. In this unit, you can use this pattern when talking about your favorite or preferred TV programs or movies.

When used with nouns:
I have a preference for horror films.
She has a preference for animations.
We have a preference for cartoons.

When used with verbs:
Add the “-ing” suffix to the verb.
I prefer watching horror films.
She prefers watching animations.
We prefer watching cartoons.

When indicating a preference between two things:
Insert “to” between the two options.
I prefer horror films to action films.
I prefer watching horror films to watching action films.
He prefers news to documentaries.
He prefers watching news to watching documentaries.
