CONNECTORS (“And” – “But” – “Because”)
“And,” “But,” and “Because” are fundamental conjunctions.
AND
(and = ve)
We use the conjunction “And” in English to bring together similar ideas and add new ideas to the sentence.
Examples:
Zehra is generous and helpful. (Zehra cömert ve yardımseverdir.)
She can solve puzzles, and she can make videos. (O bulmacalar çözebilir ve videolar yapabilir.)
BUT
(but = ama)
We use the conjunction “But” in English to bring together contrasting situations.
Examples:
Zafer is a very kind child, but he never shares his toys. (Zafer çok kibar bir çocuktur, ama oyuncaklarını asla paylaşmaz.)
He can play basketball, but he can’t play football. (O basketbol oynayabilir, ama futbol oynayamaz.)
BECAUSE
(because = çünkü)
The conjunction “Because” is used in English to indicate cause and effect in sentences.
Examples:
I have to study hard because I have an English exam. (Çok çalışmak zorundayım, çünkü İngilizce sınavım var.)
I’m going to the library because I need a quiet place to read a book. (Kütüphaneye gidiyorum çünkü kitap okumak için sessiz bir yere ihtiyacım var.)
